Our HistoryOur History

Established in 1991 as the Pickens Pregnancy Center, the ministry was small and little more than a dream in progress. Originally the services included free pregnancy tests, support, and advocacy. Although we started out small — originally occupying a small office right off Main Street in downtown Jasper — we began to grow. We then moved to a suite in a large office building and later expanded to utilize the entire four suites of office space. In 2009, the name of the center was changed to the North Georgia Pregnancy Center to better reflect the multi-county outreach and impact of the ministry.

Today we are known simply as The Pregnancy Center and continue to serve multiple counties across the North Georgia area including Pickens, Cherokee and Gilmer. In addition to the pregnancy tests and support of our early days, our services now include a Pregnant Mom Perks ministry, which provides brand new items for moms and babies as they utilize our Earn While You Learn educational program. We’ve also added the Angel Babies Boutique, a store offering gently-used clothing and baby supplies, which is open to the public and our clients for regular shopping hours.

The Pregnancy Center also offers fatherhood programs, an annual banquet at the Tate House in Jasper, Georgia, and community-wide educational outreaches such as our annual “Loving Well” event targeting middle and high school students, parents and teachers.

In 2020 the Lord blessed us with a larger, newly-renovated space to house the center and our Angel Babies Boutique. We are so very thankful for the opportunity to continue walking alongside women and families in our community and can’t wait to see where the Lord takes us next! Please come by and see us — we would be glad to take you on a tour of our new location at 7 Caring Way in Jasper, Georgia.
